用LSAB免疫組織化學法檢測245例乳腺癌石蠟標本C-erb B-2癌基因的表達。結果顯示：該癌基因的過度表達與乳腺癌的臨床分期晚、組織學分級高、腋窩淋巴結有轉移、雌、孕激素受體缺乏及預后差有關。該癌基因的表達是乳腺癌中腋淋巴結狀況之外的又一個獨立預后因素。該基因表達的檢測作為乳腺癌常規病理檢查，可用于判斷乳腺癌的預后及擬定術后治療方案。
